Your teams will shrink without this

Define a simple "why" for every team, so that your teams continue to grow. Attached examples.
We have found that every team needs a well defined and simple answer to the "why" of their ministry serve. If we cannot answer that question simply enough, and keep it in front of our teams, they will likely lose momentum and start to shrink. If people do not have a purpose to the area of ministry that they serve in, they lose steam over time. If we can keep they "why" in front of them, they will thrive. First and foremost, people serve at a higher capacity, if we can first find what they are called by God to do and help them connect that to the local church. Everybody's calling is connected to the local church in some way, it is our job to find it and continue to pour energy and encouragement into it.
We have had countless testimonies of people on our serve teams that find purpose and continue to build teams for years. However, we have also found the opposite is true. If someone is not connected to their God-given purpose through the local church, then they are likely just filling a need of the church and will start to find other things to do outside of the local church with their time and energy. Every person is designed with a specific calling and a set of gifts that help them fulfill that calling. our job is to help keep them encouraged in it. Their life depends on it. That may seem like a huge overstatement, but it is not. People that find purpose within the local church are much happier and fulfilled than those that do not. This is at least what we've found.
Our job as church staff and leaders in the community is to keep their purpose red hot. But, how do you do that for years on end? Great question, one way we have found that works is to keep the vision in front of them for their particular area of ministry. We have created cards for each team that help the team keep their focus on the "why" of ministry for their particular area of ministry. This helps the leader lead, and it helps the team keep their energy high. This connects them to the larger vision of the ministry at a micro level.
Take a look at the attached sample cards to create some of your own for each individual team. I have attached three cards for your review. We have cards for each area of ministry in our church. It takes some thought and the help of the team to create them, but once you do, you will not be disappointed.
